2) Swarnaprashana

Child is the central component of the family and his health is the concern of the conscious parents. The health of the child is dependent on the hygiene, nutrition and the immunity.

Various healthcare Regimens are practiced in India to obtain healthy offspring and Ayurveda is the treasure for it. Ayurveda, Indian system of medicine is one among them which always emphasizes on promotion of health and disease prevention. Lehana or Prashana (licking medicated mixture of ghee and honey) is one such noble method specially mentioned for children; with the aim to boost their immunity and overall health including higher mental health. Sushruta and Vaghbhata advocated administration of gold bhasma along with various drugs to the newborn child immediately after birth and on Pushya Nakshatra along with honey and ghee up to 12 years. Pushya Nakshatra is the 9th Nakshatram among 27 birth star constellations in Hindu astrology. Pushya is ruled by Brihaspati, the God of Divine wisdom. The word Pushya means to strengthen, to fortify. 4. Vidarikanda (Pueraria Tuberosa)

Indication & Uses:

Apart from increasing milk secretion, shatavari is also good for eyes, muscles, reproductive organs and helps to regain vigour and vitality. Shatavari is useful for infertility, decreased libido, threatened miscarriage, menopause, leucorrhoea and has the ability to balance pH in the cervical area. Dry membranes, such as those on the vaginal wall, are also brought into balance through the herbs’ demulcent action. It is very useful for weak, debilitated, anemic and convalescent persons to regain strength.
Men may benefit from the herb as well in the treatment of impotence and general sexual debility. In addition to it's applications for reproductive organs, Shatavari is also quite effective for stomach ulcers, hyperacidity and diarrhea. Dry and irritated membranes in the upper respiratory tract are soothed by this herb making it useful in cases of bronchitis and chronic fevers.
